What is Huntt's Row?
When complete, Huntt's Row will be a collection of 8 newly constructed row houses along Kensington Avenue in Richmond's Fan District. With exteriors designed to blend and interiors designed to inspire, the project will provide 8 owners a modern living experience in Richmond's most historic and walkable neighborhood.
Where Did the Name Come From?
Huntt’s Row is named for Albert Huntt, a talented Richmond architect whose influences can be found throughout Richmond’s Fan District. Huntt was credited with designing properties along some of Richmond’s most notable stretches and for some of Richmond’s most notable names. His best known work can be found on Monument Avenue and the famed 1500 block of Grove.
Huntt designs tended to challenge the accepted boundaries of classical architecture, making his work noticeable to the untrained eye. And while his most well known efforts were ornate and unique, he could design for efficiency as well.
In 1909, he was asked to craft a block of speculative housing along the 2100 Block of Hanover Avenue for a local builder. As any talented architect would do, he managed to blend art with finance to create a row of homes connected by an elegant and classical simplicity still evident today.
Understated. Elegant. Simple.
